Hey Dee...
PA contract is wrong in your article is wrong.
Also... they never mentioned the Islanders when they commented on FA. They said Columbus is the Island of Misfit Toys. (as in the Rudolph the Reindeer cartoon)...
Pierre McGuire said he thought the Isles did a good job of giving Boyes a chance, and thought that adding Carkner would only help the young guys and Streit. Give them a little more room back there.
Just some early morning proof reading...lol.
It's nice they gave Boyes a chance to redeem himself... but he's not exactly a high end replacement for our top line.
We need to add another top 6 guy.
Carkner will add some toughness.
Boulton is a bum... will probably play in the AHL all year. |

I think they're better on defense this year than they were last year. It seems they're still in the running for Salvador who would solidify their defense. I think Boyes or Bailey (if not traded) will be centering the second line. Look for them to bring in a RW for the Tavares line...that means they willl have to make a trade. |

I'm not at all upset with yesterday, outside of the PAP signing in Colorado for a number the Isles should have matched. I don't see why there is all this hate for Boyes? Hes a solid player. PAP was not even an NHL level player before he got on JT's wing and look how He turned out. Why can't anyone see a solid season from Boyes on JT's wing, from a guy who has been a solid contributor in the NHL in the past? Nobody here could have legitimately expected a better July 1 than yesterday was. Carkner and Visnovsky are significant upgrades over Eaton and Jurcina. At least Snow replaced PAP with a guy who has a chance to replace a majority of the points PAP scored.
The only thing missing is a second line center. Jokinen or Hudler would be awesome right now. That would round out the top nine nicely. Get one of those two, maybe add a Salvador as well, this team is much better on paper than last years. And BTW, are people really THAT upset over Haley signing a two way contract with the Rangers? Hes a plug. Hes not Clark Gillies. Haley will never be an NHL regular. By the time that contract becomes a one way deal, the Rangers will buy him out. |

He had eight goals last year. He has a chance is a good way of putting it. I think his best season was 74 points? Could be wrong? With that said I think it was a good signing. He may just need a change of scenery? Love to see Jokinen or Hudler. Snow said he was going to go hard for a second line center hope he locks one of these two up. Yes, I am upset about Haley going to the Rangers |

Your right about them buying him out, but the kid can play. Before last season he proved that he was a good teamate, and brought an element to this team that it had been lacking. For that alone, to me it warrented a one way deal last year. Instead, after bleeding orange and blue, he was slapped in the face with a two way deal. You cant ask guys to step up and when they do not hold up your end of the bargain. The addition of the "vets" last year, took Haleys spot, and we all saw how great they were for this team. Haley like many others on this team werent given a fair shake.....

Agreed. He was a good soldier. I think he has more to offer than advertised. Don't know if he's going to be given an opportunity with Torterella?
Edit; I'm hoping he isn't going to be given an opportunity with Torterella |

I'm I'm the minority on this but i think the love for Haley from everyone is a bit much. He was even being scratched in bridgeport last year at times..
Losing him is not making a difference |

With all due respect to you and Mr. Rossi, if you think the fans lack of attendance at games to watch a perpetually losing team is the reason free agents don't sign on Long Island, you both need to get your heads examined. 20 years of losing and mismanagement by several ownership groups, including the current one, as well as an inability to secure a new arena for a variety of reasons has played a much larger role in driving UFA's away from Long Island. With the cost of ticket prices nowadays, I don't blame an "average fan" for not shelling out cash to watch a perpetual bottom five team. Its amazing. All the apologists will point fingers at every reason under the sun for why the isles can't sign top end talent in order to avoid placing blame where it belongs: on the organization itself. |

We'll see? He may crash and burn with the Rangers but I think he should have been given a chance with the Isles which I feel he didn't get. We had roster spots filled with the likes of Pandalfo, Rolston, Reasoner, who brought NOTHING to the line up. No element of toughness just nothing. He could have done so much more than any of the players I mentioned. If Pandalfo is re-signed I will vomit. Reasoner should be brought out immediately. |

And your right Crawford wasn't even talking about the Islanders, I think it was actually Semin he was talking to saying thats where those guys land , teams where nobody bascially mays attention and they float around...still a stupid comment
Boulton isn't much but he is tough as hell...we will all want him up on the back end of a home and home vs a team that beat JT around trust me on this. |

He was "slapped in the face"? I liked Haley too, but lets face facts here: 28 other teams didn't offer Haley a one way deal and the Rangers only gave him a one way in year two of the deal. Why do you think that is? Because Haley is a legit NHL player? He can skate a bit, but hes too he**-bent on fighting. He takes penalties. This was not a major loss. Micheal Haley was not going to be the difference between making and missing the playoffs. |

Bravo. Read her blog again myself and once again regretted it. To say or insinuate someone is not a fan for not going to games is absurd. Dee needs to dig her head out of the sand. We were all aware of that already. |

I think if they were out to address the problem of lost man-games on defense. By adding some healthy veteran d may go a long way. Last year they addressed a similar problem up front with Reasoner Rolston and Pandolfo but they added little scoring. Hopefully they can address the goalie reliability and get a little more forward scoring punch. |

28 other teams didnt have their goalie knocked out, and have one man take on the entire team/
For a team that lacked toughness, minus minus martin.......haley brought an element tat most nhl clubs want. He can play........hes not just a plug |

1. Carkner is a nice addition. He can fight.. and he is a 6/7 d-man. This is clearly something we needed.
2. Boyes better not be PA's replacement. He is a non factor to me. They paid him 1 mill for 1 year. Let him try and get back to his old form.. if not.. who cares.
3. Boulton... WTF? Did we not learn anything last year. This is a guy we signed who will take away from a young guy.. just dumb.
4. Haley is a Ranger... very fking annoying... VERY!! He should have been on the Islanders last year instead of about 5 other guys. That said he will drive Torts nuts and never play.
5. Asham... I love him as an Islander but that was about 5 teams ago and he was not that great a hockey player. I could care less.
6. This better not be all we are doing... I am still expecting a TOP pairing D-man and/or a top 6 forward.
misfit Island was Columbus Dee... you are not friggin helping. |

Does she ever? I'm a bit concerned with them thinking Boyes is replacing PA's points, that's quite a chance they are taking on him if that's the case. I like the signing and it is worth a shot but they better not be factoring in 70 points from the guy next season. We NEED a top six forward and a top four Dman would make us pretty legit if our goal tending holds together. |

Am I sounding more like the Kool Aide drinker here? . I think if we add one of Jokinen or Hudler(which Snow said he was going to go hard for a second line center so Nielsen could go to the third line) and a top four Dman we are in a decent situation. |
